Sacred Harvest is a method of harvesting animals that merges hunting skills training, rites of passage, and fellowship with the intention of providing sustenance for a household or community. The idea was born in 2019 from a heart's calling to connect people with their food source in a holistic and wholesome way that supports their personal growth. The entire process, from building relationship with the animal to processing and packaging its meat, is an impactful journey that allows participants to investigate their internal landscape while learning self-sustaining skills at every step along the way.
While we host hunts in the wild for experienced hunters, the typical Sacred Harvest environment is a fenced pasture where time and chance are not major aspects of the experience. Generally speaking, the animals are not able to escape and a successful harvest is guaranteed. These are privately owned animals, making Sacred Harvest accessible to those with limited experience and without hunter's education certification. However, firearm and weapon safety is of utmost importance to us and we are able to provide resources for education and certification, where necessary.
Our Hunting Mentorship Program is designed to prepare beginner harvesters on tactical, spiritual, mental, and emotional levels over the course of a 4-month curriculum so they are ready to be present at the moment of transition. More experienced harvesters are invited to co-create an abbreviated version of the program to prepare for a harvest.
The animals we harvest - located in Colorado, Nebraska, and Texas - are big and will feed many. For example, one Yak will yield about 500 pounds of meat and bones. So a group of five participants could go home with roughly 100 pounds of nourishing protein, each.
Why we love Sacred Harvest: The animal you harvest will provide you with sustenance for many months to come. You will have been present for the animal's last days, death, and processing. The meat you enjoy will have only touched your hands in an intentional way and the experience you have during the harvest will echo each time you take a bite. We believe this is true medicine.
We encourage you to read our client stories and testimonials on our blog to get a sense of the impact the Sacred Harvest experience has had on those who have participated. Everyone's takeaway is unique to their personal journey and relationship with the harvested animal, but the fact that these experiences make lasting impressions is undeniable.
